Default Where should I start (pre-25NL)

Hey guys, I'm taking another shot at NL and would like to keep my "schooling" expenses down to a minimum while I learn so I don't get discouraged and quit again. My question is where should I start? I want the smallest stakes possible that will still play similiar to the party 25. I am also considering SNGs

Thanks for any advice

Lots of sites have 10$ and even 2$ NL (Stars, UB, Prima, etc.).

I've played some shorthanded 10$ NL on these sites and it's pretty similar to PP 25. Not sure about the 2$ NL, but I imagine it doesn't stray too far in play.

I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks this... but the lower you go, the less it resembles poker.

People don't attempt to play well at .01/.02 tables. The play is so horrific, it won't give you any experience playing against people who have a vague idea of what they're doing.

Don't get me wrong, if you play tight ABC poker, you can make some money... but I don't think you'll learn to read other players or are other players moves and calls likely to make as much sense.

It reminds me of the free games.... the play doesn't resemble at all what you'll see when the bets have real value.

I suggest playing pokerstars $10 tables at a minimum. $25 is a good learning ground.

Paradise has some good $10NL games which are great to learn on. Good(ish) players and you aren't going to blow a fortune.

i started on the 2$ tables on stars back in jan., i found that the 10 dollar tables on stars were probaly where i really started to get a hold of the game (meaing i first started playing against opponents who tried to win)

Just play $25nl on party... the SB is only $0.10, anyone can afford that. Play tight on a full table until you get the hand of it.

it really depends on how much that money means to you. If you're lucky you'll only drop a couple hundred dollars before you "get the hang of it". If that's no big deal, sure start at 25NL. Otherwise you're better off starting smaller.
