Default Tournament Shortfall? Whats that?

Hey. Kind of surprised I don't know what this is, but I am on Bodogs and in the lobby browsing the tourneys. They have a 100K Guarantee but it says that there was a 42% shortfall last week of $41,900. What does this mean? That that is how much they put up of their own money?

Yeah, it's the overlay they had to put up.

I'm not 100% sure, but that explanation fits the numbers. I've always thought that, by extension, it means your buy-in is worth more because you are fighting through a shorter than 1:1 field. At 1:1 with a $100 buy-in, you'd be in a field of 1000. Instead, you're in a field of 580 so your buy in is worth $172, with $72 being covered by the house.
