Default I\'m a donk...

From the Stars $150, player in question is pretty active, and aggro, but capable of laying hands down.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com

UTG+1 (t2570)
MP1 (t1955)
MP2 (t1930)
MP3 (t2405)
Hero (t3546)
Button (t1307)
SB (t7390)
BB (t2125)
UTG (t5615)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises to t600</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t1600</font>

I feel with the stack sizes a raise here sucks... Thoughts?

well you're gonna have to cal his all in if he pushes, and if he's good he will, I think you'd be behind if he did... so I dont like it, but whew I've made worse mistakes.

I would like to hear some arguments for why to make the raise though, maybe Im not seeing it right?

Yeah, maybe if he had 2800+, but I'd have to think he's raising at this point with no intention of folding to anything less than multiple all-ins. Did you spike a K to bust his QQ?

You're begging him to push into you, though. And you're almost forced to call it, based on the odds you've laid yourself. Wouldn't you rather just push into him, and make him decide?

Actually.... I think it's fine.

You decide you like your hand, are probably best, and want to take the pot down now since flops are generally bad for you. So you need to raise, as you did or all in. I prefer your raise as it represents a much stronger hand, and will discourage anyone raising an eyebrow and making a heroic AT or 77 call (since your all in is a touch of an overbet). The blinds will have a hard time playing without 99+/AK.

Ya those were my thoughts. Its funny the way the tone of a post reflects the responses sometimes. I make this play quite often, usually it works, this time... well it sort of did. After I reraised, a player behind me pushed, and I was pot stuck so I called, he had KK. I hit a running straight. HAHAHA.
