Any justification in chasing this flush?

(I usually raise 2x blinds with A-Xs, specially if it's 2-5, if I don't hit any draws I leave, that was my thinking in calling the $1.50 raise) Second mistake was to put in my last $1.75, but I was pot committed and wanted to see what the guy had...damn curiosity eh. So sides getting into the hand, was this flush worth chasing? I think the flop bet and call were played right, figured I had more then enough outs. Should I have just laid it down after my check on the turn and his $10 bet? Thanks for any input, and sorry if the HH format isn't tolerated...wasn't sure where to find a converter for CRL sites. I usually raise 2x blinds with A-Xs, specially if it's 2-5 [/ QUOTE ] You minraise with this hand UTG in a full ring game? Alright. As you said, you should have folded preflop. If you do call someone who's made an 8xbb raise with Ac3c, though, this is pretty much an ideal flop. After his raise on the flop you should have pushed all-in, as the only hand that he could reasonably have (assuming that he wouldn't raise TT that much) that you're a (smallish) dog to is AA. |

Re: Any justification in chasing this flush?
As you played it, you don't have the odds to call the turn bet (which puts you almost all-in). If you are planning on putting all your money in anyways, do it on the flop.
Because you have a pair and a flush draw, I think on the flop you are slightly ahead of an overpair (e.g. QQs). http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1032923 pokenum -h ac 3c - qd qh -- tc 6c 3d Holdem Hi: 990 enumerated boards containing Tc 6c 3d cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV Ac 3c 511 51.62 479 48.38 0 0.00 0.516 Qd Qh 479 48.38 511 51.62 0 0.00 0.484 |

Re: Any justification in chasing this flush?
just the fact that you raised min with that in the position that you were is the first mistake, the next one is calling the reraise preflop with that hand. remember that just because it is souuuuted it doesn't meant that it is a great hand. for the mistakes that you did, you got a very good flop.

Re: Any justification in chasing this flush?
I don't really see the raise as a mistake, it builds the pot in case I do hit the nut flush draw, in case it doesn't I usually don't stay in the hand long. I do this regardless of position, it's small amount to put in and if it hits it pays big.
I still need a bigger sample for PT, but after 2500 hands when I play A2s-A5s I come out on top. I do badly when I hit an ace on the flop, so I've got to work on that. But raising in any position with that hand so far has worked well. The call of the re raise was part logic and part "hey I might get lucky". Thats also something I need to work on. |
