AK or KK?
I was reading a post a day or two ago on whether or not AK is better KK. Clearly, if you get these two hands all-in preflop AGAINST each other KK is better. I have a different question, and perhaps this will just end up being a matter of opinion, or this will change in different limits but it is this:
Over the long run do you make more with AK on an A high flop against Ax - OR - do you make more with KK against an underpair on an all under flop, let's say 852r. The assumption is, of course, that you will not be playing big pots with KK on an A high flop or AK on a Q high flop. I want you to assume negative implied odds too, that is, the times that Ax hits two pair, and 88, 55, and 22 (or whatever underpair they have) hits a set. Votes and comments would be appreciated. |

Re: AK or KK?
is this a joke? if you are playing anything above 2/4, then its KK, and sorry to say it, but its not even close.
people dont stack off usually with AQ on a AK board w 100BBs. but they love to with 99-QQ on a low board. |

Re: AK or KK?
Not a joke, and this isn't necessarily how many times you'll stack off.
However, apparently there's a section where Doyle Brunson says he'd rather have AK than KK and I thought this may be a reason why. Although, I too would much rather have KK, but I'm not sure if it's as black and white as you say. |

Re: AK or KK?
well, he also played w like 1000bb stacks, so overpair werent the best hands in that game.

Re: AK or KK?
So top pair top kicker is better?
The point is not about his game structure. It's about the fact that A) Your opponent can only work off two cards on the flop (because you have an Ace or a King out there), B) You often get people playing dominated ace's, more often then overpair stacks overpair. Not sure if it's right or not mind you. |

You rarely will LOSE a big pot with AK. |

Re: AK or KK?
Really? I managed to lose 1K the other day with AK... tell me if you could away from this...
Board:KKJ...all in on the flop he has pocket Jacks. Yes... It easier to get away from if you miss with AK but when I hit that flop I'm going to the felt. |
