Default 44 - Betting into a big field on the flop...

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, Hero calls, 2 folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, SB folds, BB calls, MP1 folds, MP2 calls.

Turn: (4 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 checks, Hero checks.

I was folding to a c/r on the flop.
I was going to fold to a bet on the turn or river once I got called in two spots on the flop. Should I bet this turn again, representing an A then take a free showdown, if offered?

Good? Bad? Ugly?

[For those interested, I river g00t.]

I think I'm more than happy to take a free card on the flop.

There's not enough of a chance I can get 2 cards for 1 SB here?

The pot would need to be laying you something like 11-1 for that to be worth doing. Myabe some other factors like implied odds and fold equity make this worth it but I don't see it.

a) Slight chance you'll get check-raised on the flop
b) Slight chance you won't get the free card on the turn
c) Your 4 outs aren't clean / they may give someone a good re-draw
d) 1 SB into a small pot to see two cards for your two-outer still doesn't seem like good effective odds.

Honestly, when it checked to me, I thought my hand was best and was hoping to win outright (suuuure), or clean up some overcards.

I'm not sure why the turn card changed that, if only that I got 2 callers instead of the 1/0 I was hoping for.

Did you not see that there was an ace on board?

Take a free card and hope to spike a set. If anything, you should probably check the flop and the bet the turn if they check to you again. A bet in that spot will almost always pick up the pot.

Actually, I bet precisely because there was an ace and it was checked to me. I figured the chances anyone had one were pretty low at that point. (And, I was correct. :P )
