Default World Cup of Poker

Anybody playing or played in the World Cup of Poker in Poker Stars?
I think it's a really cool idea to represent your country playing poker. Just wondering if some trouts were in their National Teams.

There were 40 teams in 8 groups with 5 teams each. All the games are NL Holdem heads up.The 40 teams are listed here
2 teams per group advanced to the round of 16. Interestingly, USA had 4 teams, USA, USA Cal, USA Ore, and USA Geo. And just one of these 4 teams advanced; USA Geo, and was eliminated by England in the round of 16. Team USA has Teecoy, TheBeat and David Williams in the team and couldn't get 1 of the top 2 spots in a group of 5 !!

As this writing the situation looks like this, with 3 teams (Scotland, Mexico and England) already in the quarter finals.

I represented Israel. We have lost to Lithuania (2:3), Hungary (2:3) and TeamUsa (1:4), but beat Norway (3:2) in the Round-robin. 1:3 wasn't good enough, so we didn't make it to the round of 16 stage.

Personally, I won 3 out my 4 HU games, which was the best result in our team, but it didn't help us so much unfortunately. It's tough when poker becomes a "team" sport...

Yes, praying, we won group H (Denmark,Scotland,Ireland,Canada-2 and Mexico)

I'm 5-0 so far in my HU matches, we need to win 1 more game to go to the semis in London. So, hopefully we beat the Scotts next Sunday; we already did it in the 1st round, but it was close (3-2). So far a very nice experience.

The tourney has been good fun so far. I am representing Scotland and am looking forward to a tough game v Mexico on Sunday for a trip to London. We finished 2nd in the group behind Mexico.

Hi there Sirio,

Personally I'm looking forward to our rematch on Sunday, when hopefully I will halt your glorious winning streak.

Otherwise, been an intersting comp, as the team aspect certainly puts an extra element of excitement into it. There have been a lot of good players in it as well.

And of course it's great to get to represent your country at anything.

See you on Sunday

Diamond Dave

Hey Dave, don't forget to mention that Scotland are already world champions at Elephant Polo.
