The President\'s speech
I found it a fine speech as far as showing that Bush is doing his job well and is on top of things. Unfortunately the text of the speech was:
$$ $$$$$ $$$$$ $$$ $$$$$ $$ $ $$$$$ $$$ $$ $$$$$$ $$$ $$ $$$$$$ $$$$$$ $$$$$$$ $$$ $$$$$ $$$ $$$$$ Thats our taxpayers money that all this spending is paved with. If only Blanco let people do their job when it mattered, it wouldn't be costing us as much. |

Re: The President\'s speech
Lets face it he can't really win, if he lets them rot in poverty the left hates him, if he dares spend $ on rebuilding then the right hates him, sucks to be president.

Thats our taxpayers money that all this spending is paved with. If only Blanco let people do their job when it mattered, it wouldn't be costing us as much. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, I'll play along in Broken Records little fantasy world. Blanco's to blame. Had she done something (I'm not sure what you wanted her to do, she asked Bush to declare a state of emergency BEFORE Katrina hit) then we wouldn't have to spend so much. By your logic, had Blanco asked for help then what would have been different? Would we have had people down there to put their fingers in the levies so New Orleans wouldn't flood? Would 100% of people been evacuated? Just what exactly would have changed there big guy? So how exactly are we saving money? The hurricane still would have hit, NO still would have flooded and people still wouldn’t have places to live or work. Could more lives have been saved...perhaps. It's one of those things that will be debated for years to come like how good our intel was on WMDs. Hindsight is always 20/20. And while I'm sure there is a laundry list of things that could have been done better, they weren't and now we need to learn from it and do the best we can to fix a horrible situation. I’m so sorry that you fell bad about having to spend billions on reconstruction, but now you might know a little bit about how many of us feel about Iraq. |
