Default Good team names

I had this discussion with a friend a couple nights ago after watching an AC Milan vs Chicago Fire soccer game, about good team names and awful ones. the good ones are often package deals, good name/logo/uniform image.

my favorites:

new york yankees
boston red sox
chicago cubs
indinapolis colts
miami dolphins
st louis cardinals
brooklyn dodgers
philadelphia 76ers
LA Lakers
boston bruins
san fransisco 49ers
north carolina tar heels
washington senators
houston oilers
new york rangers

conclusions:

generally old names are much better than new ones, arizona diamondbacks, are you kidding me?

harmless animals (especially birds) are better than supposedly tough ones. st louis cardinals > philadelphia eagles, for example.

european soccer names are also awesome. they dont try too hard and have the tradition aspect down. queens arsenal for example, thats just awesome.

Minor League baseball teams have some of the best/worst names.

EX.

Lumberjacks is goods
Missions is bad (this is in San Antonio and their mascot is a big fluffy taco, ouch.)

I think the name is good, but it's definitely time for a new uniform, color scheme and logo. It's not 1966 anymore.

You missed the Red Wings, Maple Leafs, and Blackhawks, and the (gag) Fighting Irish.
