Default What\'s the most you\'ve won when flopping quads...

...with three of a kind on the flop?

I just about pooed myself and wondered if I would get paid off. I really did. Typical 3/6 casino game...too many see the flop, too many pay off. SB on my left is loose-aggressive but not good. Made some real questionable river raises so I felt the smooth call on the river would be raised.

3/6 B&M game last night. 10 players.

4 callers, 2 folds, Hero calls from button with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB raises, BB calls, 4 limpers call. Hero calls.

Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (7 players/14 SB)

Checked around.

Turn: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (7 players/ 6.5 BB)

Check, Check, bet, call, call, Hero calls, SB calls, 2 folds

River: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players/11.5 BB)

SB check, BB checks, Check, bet, hero calls, SB raises, fold, fold, call, Hero 3-bets, SB calls, call.

i just posted about this a few weeks ago, i had A6 of diamonds and flop was AAA. someone hit a flush on the river, i picked up 16.25BB.

if you bet the flop they'll all just fold probably. also i was OOP in mine so it was annoying, i couldn't trap many bets.

I wondered about when to show my stuff, especially against players that are just terrible. Would a flop bet look like a steal, or would they all pee themselves and go running? And if I bet the flop, I'm probably limiting any action after I raise the next time. And certainly 9 BBs wouldn't have gone in on the river.

Players were cold-calling turn raises and paying off everywhere so I wanted to keep everyone around to hit their boats.

The turn raise might have been a good idea. Overcards to the T would have hung around. But if something under a T comes out on the river, I'll get no action (unless a T, JJ, QQ, KK is out there. But I'd have heard from those pre-flop or on the turn).

Trying to do the math on the turn raise...

6.5 BB after flop check-around.

Bet, call, call, Hero raises, (SB probably folds facing 2 cold, but he sucks so ??), fold, fold, call, call, call.

14.5 BB after turn betting.

Now I'm up against three players and none of the passives are going to be into me. My only real hope to beat 20.5 BB would be if the player on my immediate right tries to check-raise me with a Queen trapping all the others. But I didn't see anyone willing to do that. The only other two people who had check-raised at the table were out already.

Whoever my opponent was last night who rivered quads when every street was capped with another set, and me with the nut flush.

So it'll be 9 years before I flop quads like this again so I'll ask a more general question...

Against a table of bad players who are mostly loose-passive with a couple of loose-aggressives...when will you show aggression if you have a monster?

Do you do it on the turn and build a pot huge enough that everyone has to call (even though they may not understand that they HAVE to to call)? Or should you wait for the river?

If the SB or BB had bet out on the turn, I would certainly would have raised from the button...'cause then I'd have the field trapped and then get them again, and hopefully check-raised on the river. But with the bet coming from the middle on the turn and on my right on the river, I felt going slow was the best.

Not a whole lot, but I did win a $50 heads up match with a turned Royal.

I went to the casino on Wednesday and a dude there who's a regular player (and very credible with his stories considering other people at the casino were able to back them up) told us about his $5k flopped quads in Tahoe.

He had 77's, and some ridiculous $15k stack at $5/10 NL NL buy in table made it 75 to go, Mr. 77 calls. Flop comes 772, $15k stack goes all in. Mr. 77, of course, calls and takes $5k against the big-stack's AA.

Interestingly enough, about an hour after he tells me the story I flop quad ducks, only the third time I have flopped quads live. I showed no aggression pre-flop since I was BB with ducks, and thus I couldn't show aggression on the flop... yeah, call me what you will, but when I flop quads in a multiway pot or heads up when I've shown pre-flop aggression, I will always bet quads because people can't believe I'd bet such a big hand, so they think I didn't get a piece of a say... 663 flop. Being a mostly heads up player for the last 2 years means I see about 250-400 hands/hour, so i've flopped a lot of quads.

Anyway, there were 5 people in the pot, I check the flop... no action (622 flop or something like that), the turn is whatever it is (not like I cared I had quads), I put out a $10 bet into a $27 dollar pot and everyone folds. I flip over my quads and proclaim my hatred for everyone at the table.
