My WSOP Hand

I am sitting on about 15k early in the first day. Blinds are 50/100 and I am one of the biggest stacks at my table. Player in question has me covered, as he busted Spirit Rock a few hands ago. He has been very aggressive, raising very often and winning pots uncontested.

He raises to 300, I call with A7c in the button. Flop is 972 rainbow. He checks, I bet 600, he makes it 1700. What's my plan?

first.. what position was he and what do you feel your table image was at the time? in this tourney we definetely need to consider these issues..

given that, i probably muck preflop, and then muck to his
C/R. why risk so much in a marginal situation?

My table image- I lost a bit early. I have the feeling that everyone thinks I can be run over. I chased out a flush against a made straight (who checkraised me on the flop, and I called medium bets with my flush draw/gutshot/overcard).

He was about UTG+3, and I was on the button or CO (can't remember).

one thing i learned from Harrington's book is that these kind of LAGs are looking for easy pots to take and will generally muck to resistance (unless they have a real hand.) especially w/ A7s, I want to reraise preflop to take it down right there -- if he calls your raise you will define his hand a little more.

Given how things happened, I would probably muck -- if I felt he was really just playing with me, I think you have two options -- come over the top again on the flop (although this will cost you about a 1/3rd of your stack,) or call the flop, call the turn, and reevaluate things on the river. i'm not really sure which line is best.

3500 and be done with the hand if he calls/raises. (unless you hit on the turn)

you have to establish that you won't take his sh!t, since you will presumably be playing together most of the day. let him pick on someone else.

That means bet big or raise on the turn and bet deep into your stack on the river.

you don't think he gets the same message if he makes it 3500 on the flop?
I can't imagine him reraising us w/ something we beat or calling and betting into us with something we beat.

I want to protect my pair now while it's still likely the best hand. I don't want him to back into a top pair and feel pc'd.

If villain has a pair of JJ or something it could get scary on the turn.
There will probably be a flush draw or a str8 on the board, the ace might come.

I wouldn't try and make a stand at the flop because its much easier for villain to see that his hand is good.

I don't think the 7s are good.

Anyhow you're playing your image, and hope enough unpleasant cards arrive to make villain fold.
