Default Help me with my video card.... I\'m a computer idiot.

so i bought the gforce MX4000 off ebay so that i could hook my 2CRTs up together. it came in the mail and i was expecting the hardware to have 2 female monitor ports. instead, it has 1 female monitor port and a S-Video port. i have no idea what an svideo port is btw, but it looks like what you plug your keyboard into.

so i look down at the back of my computer, and see that my current video card has the same svideo port that the new video card has. my current video card is a gforce3.

does that mean that i wasted money on the new video card when i really didnt need it?

how do i hook up the second monitor? do i install both video cards, or do i need to get some sort of adapter that turns the male monitor plug into a male svideo plug? if so, whats it called and where can i get it?

the new video card came with a little adapter that turns the svideo female port into a port that looks like a pair of headphones can fit into it.

well, the only thing I can say is I hope one of your cards is a PCI card. Neither of these cards by themselves will run dual monitors.

tough to say. The MX4000 is a chipset distributed by different card makers. Chances are, there IS a MX4000 with dual capabilities, just not the one you got.

I've got an XFX GE Force MX4000 from which I'm running dual monitors. There are 3 ports on the back, VGA, S-Video and DVI.
