Exposed 1 card with 2 players left to act...

Weekly NL home tourney, action goes: EP Call, SB Call, BB Min Raise, Call, Call. Flop: 578. SB Goes all in for T2200, BB is left to act and has T900 and the EP has them both covered.
SB right after going all in exposes 1 card, a 6 of Spades (1 spade on board). The BB and EP have yet to act. What's the ruling? Thanks!

Well the most likely "standard" ruling is that players may not expose their cards unless it's the end of a hand or an all in call. Of course in a casino/official tournament, people can be punished for improper play. But in a home game, you'll just piss people off if you try to punish them.

But in home games, the rules should be set by the "house". Thats how we play at my homes games, so if anyone has a problem; I settle it based on what I think is right.

If a dealer exposes a cards, all chips go back and the hand is redealt, but in a situation like this where the SB is really only hurting themselves, I probably would let it play out.

Well I found this from Robert's Rules (http://www.homepokertourney.com/rule...%20TOURNAMENTS):

21. Showing cards from a live hand during the action injures the rights of other players still competing in an event, who wish to see contestants eliminated. A player in a multihanded pot may not show any cards during a deal. Heads-up, a player may not show any cards unless the event has only two remaining players, or is winner-take-all. If a player deliberately shows a card, the player may be penalized (but his hand will not be ruled dead). Verbally stating one’s hand during the play may be penalized.

Looks like the SB should be penalized but the hand not ruled dead? I was the house in this case and we have never had a player deliberatly expose his cards before in 8 months of weekly tournies.

If he deliberately exposed it, I would rule his hand dead (if the rule was in place beforehand).

Depends on your game.

If he accidently exposed it and you're sure it was an accident, then whether you penalize him or not is up to you/house rule. I wouldn't rule his hand dead, however- he can play with the disadvantage of people seeing his card.

The rule was never discussed before at this game, so it was not in place. It is my house and I really thought he was pulling an angle shot.

Since it's a home game, you can't rule his hand dead. That would be terrible. I say the two people waiting to call got some extra information. Tough luck for SB and learn to protect your hand.

At my game, accidentally exposed cards still play. Deliberately exposed cards gets yelled at and berated, but those still play. If a player continues to deliberately expose their cards, the hand is dead.
