Default bankroll management question

New to this section of the 2+2 forum, so bear with me. In poker, they recommend a minimum 300BB bankroll for any given level. Is there such a recommended bankroll limit for sports betting? Like don't wager over X% of your bankroll in a given week......thanks.

Default Re: bankroll management question

search for the kelly criterion on google (or on ssb), but be careful - it probably advocates higher bets than make sense. long story short: it depends on the quality of your picks (your percent edge), which should be obvious. kelly proves mathematically that you should bet your edge in every game. many top bettors bet what they call '1/2 kelly', which is just half of your % edge. there are also many who just bet a set 1% of their bank on each game, etc. the key is that almost everyone bets too much.
