Wynn 40-80 hand: FSUplayer v. Jim Brier
This hand was played a few weeks ago, was observed by me, and was discussed with Clarkmeister and fsuplayer. I think I have the details right, but might be off on part of it. I have not asked any party whether or not it was ok to post the hand, but I'm gonna do it anyways because I'm gonna forget about it by the time I can get a hold of any of the parties.
Clarkmeister and I disagreed with the proper move to make on the river. FSUplayer and I have been raising the table rather liberally in the first hour after this game formed. FSUplayer is making lots of money, I'm losing lots of money, but I'm needling Brier more, so I'm winning. FSUplayer raises with red AKo from UTG+2 after a limper. Brier calls in the CO. The blinds fold, the limper calls (or something like that...there were 3 to the flop) Flop: Kc Td Xc Limper checks, Fsu bets, Brier calls "quickly and stubbornly" (not my words), limper folds. Turn: Jh Fsu bets, Brier calls. River 9h Gimme a line. |

anything other than checking would be terrible. what worse hand that he cc with pre-flop is he going to call with. Is the debate to fold or call once u check?

Re: Wynn 40-80 hand: FSUplayer v. Jim Brier
I'm not too familiar with Brier's play, but that's definitely an ugly river card. The first line that comes to mind is check-call, but I won't be happy about it (hoping to see a missed flush draw). Check-folding seems too weak-tight, but almost anything reasonable that Brier cold-called with PF and then called the turn bet has FSUplayer beat.

Checkraise because he'll fold the river assuming you have AQ and got lucky.

Re: Wynn 40-80 hand: FSUplayer v. Jim Brier
my first instinct is to check call. but, as sometimes occurs, my first instinct is wrong. i think the correct play would be to check raise and fold to a 3bet.
if you bet, you cannot call a raise. if you bet, there are no hands i see that he can cold call with preflop that you now beat and will call a raise. if you check call you basically give him a 1 bet showdown and he can bet all the 2 pair hands that he can have and a passively played set (no pf 3bet and no flop or turn agression...i see a set as unlikely) liberally. therefore i think brier will fold the 2 pair hands he'd bet if you check. further, a c'r will make brier less likely to value bet you after you check on the river. the other option is to check and fold to a bet. i think this is a very viable option. very little he can have now that you beat. but... i like a c'r b/c there are many things (2 pair hands) that he can have that you beat. he'll never fold a Q here but probably wont 3 bet it either b/c you can have AQ and will face him w/ a cap. so c'r but a very very close play would be to check and fold. i didnt need to look at the cards to know the answer is bet and fold to a raise.

I like anything but check-calling.
