Laid down a flush, good play or weak fold?
Here's a hand I played on Cryptologic NL $.5/$1 blinds. No read on the villain other than I haven't noticed him being particularly loose or aggressive.
Seat 2 is the button. Seat 1: ($189 in chips) Seat 2: ($14.75 in chips) Seat 3: ($101.75 in chips) Seat 4: ($78 in chips) Seat 5: Hero ($122.50 in chips) Seat 6: ($49 in chips) Seat 7: ($99 in chips) Seat 8: ($35.50 in chips) Seat 9: Villain ($95.25 in chips) Seat 10: ($42.50 in chips) Seat3: posts small blind $0.50 Seat4: posts big blind $1 ----- HOLE CARDS ----- dealt to Hero [Ts 9s] Hero: calls $1 Seat6: folds Seat7: folds Seat8: folds Villain: raises to $3 Seat10: folds Seat1: folds Seat2: folds Seat3: folds Seat4: folds Hero: calls $2 ----- FLOP ----- [8s Kc 5s] Hero: checks Villain: bets $5 Platypus: calls $5 ----- TURN ----- [8s Kc 5s][As] Hero: checks Villain: checks ----- RIVER ----- [8s Kc 5s As][Ac] Hero: bets $8 Villain: raises to $87.25 and is all-in Hero: folds Returned uncalled bets $79.25 to Villain Villain: doesn't show hand Villain collected $32 from Main pot I realize it's not a good idea to play suited connectors out of position. Not sure what I was thinking, must've been distracted. Called the $5 on the flop figuring I had implied odds to draw to the flush. Intended to check-raise the turn if he bet, but he checked behind. Looked to me like he sniffed out the flush. I bet about half the pot on the end, figuring he might call about that much with trip aces even though he suspected the flush. The paired board also concerned me since he raised pre-flop. When he pushed, I decided it was too likely that he had AK (AA, KK, 88, 55, A8, A5, and a bigger flush also beat me although I don't know that he'd raise preflop with the last few). The push into a pot less than half the size of his remaining stack could've been a bluff, but without having seen him being very aggressive on other hands, I didn't judge it likely. Comments on all streets welcome. |

Re: Laid down a flush, good play or weak fold?
I would have folded on the river as well.
why not bet the turn? He won't bet for you when the 3 flush board is there and he is more likely to call the turn bet than a river bet if the river blanked. you can get him to call entire pot on turn but perhaps only 1/2 pot on river. |

Re: Laid down a flush, good play or weak fold?
When you hit a non-nut flush, you should pretty much always bet it.
I would've folded that river too. |
