Re: I think i defend too much
I tend to agree that the PF call is -EV, though just barely. Even if you play well postflop, playing 43o is hard (unless you completely whiff and check and fold). You very rarely make a strong enough hand to raise with the hope of getting action. I would only play this hand against someone who gave up too easily if he misses the flop.
BTW, you are mistaken if you think 43o is a better hand here than 93o. The 93o is superior because SB will have a 5 through 8 a lot of the time here, and this gives you a chance to flop a higher pair than him. On a 9 4 2 flop, he is in worse shape with K8 against 93 than 43. In general, I would tend to fold 32o, 42o, 43o, 52o, 53o, 54o, 64o, 72o, 73o, 74o, 82o, 83o in these spots, and possibly more if SB doesn't usually steal-raise enough or if I think folding here will significantly increase my fold equity in later blind battles. |

[ QUOTE ]
sb is a TAG Preflop: Hero is BB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 6 folds, SB raises, Hero calls. I think the flop call is pretty easy but wanted to make sure. [/ QUOTE ] I fold that every time. 34o is a terrible hand for a HU situation. That said, I'm not sure what my calling range is. Off the cuff, I guess anything suited, anything with a T or greater, and most anything connected down to about 89o or so. I probably suck HU though. |
