Re: A high OOP on an ugly board
I like it, and think I need to do more of things like this. I would usually just lead the turn, get raised, and fold my better hand. Or I would lead, get raised, and call down with a worse. I like your line.

Re: A high OOP on an ugly board
i actually think i do it a bit too much, but yeah i like this line. i think the river is pretty close, but call seems good here.

Re: A high OOP on an ugly board
well that's why i don't like calling it... it looks like you're going to show this down, but he still bets. no, i don't ever fold though.

Re: A high OOP on an ugly board
Anyone like a river bet/call? I think he'd bluff raise a river donk A LOT given the goofiness of that line.

Re: A high OOP on an ugly board
Do you really want to put in 2 bets on the river with ace high?
I like the line that you used and that is how I normally play it. |

[/ QUOTE ] The way I played it felt pretty standard to me at the time, but in thinking about it after the fact, I don't think putting 2 in on the river would be bad. I think at least a fair portion of the hands that have me beat (which would have value bet anyways) will just call a river bet because the line would be so weird. It would almost certainly look line a very-thin-value or bluff bet/fold or a very unlikely but very tricky bet/3-bet. I don't think medium strength hands would be able to find much value in raising, but hands that can't beat A-high/K-king high would bluff raise VERY often. I think he'll very rarely just fold to a river donk here when he has nothing. So when I do get raised, usually it would be the pretty strong hands and the pure bluffs, so I think a bet/call might just have a higher ev than a check/call. As it happened, he had J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and MHIG. |

Re: A high OOP on an ugly board
Except for the bizzare preflop raise, I think I like our villians postflop line. Discuss.

He opened from the CO. Nothing bizzare there.
