Default Software Glitch with Party/skins

Sometimes, playing on party and skins (its happened to me on Party/Empire/PokerNow), the action will come to me and all my action buttons disappear. That is, the pre-action buttons had been there but when it's time for them to be replaced by "live" action buttons, there is nothing.

This almost always happens preflop, not on later streets and seems to happen most when I'm UTG or BB.

I've contacted support several times and they've indicated that its a known issue and I need to turn off "hardware accelleration" to fix it. I did that and it worked fine for awhile, but now that I'm playing on PokerNow, that solution is now inadequate. When I spoke with support last night, they told me to run disk cleanup and delete cookies which I've done; I've also run Ad Aware, Norton Antivirus and disk defragment all to no avail.

Two questions:

1. Has anyone had this problem?
2. How did you fix it?

I'm runnning XP Home with SP2.

Thanks for any help.

I think the only known solution is to de-install party and install ub, paradise or stars.

Actually i would like to hear some real suggestions as I sometimes also have this problem.

go here:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/search.php?Cat=

type "disappearing buttons" (with the quotations) in the search box.

click the search in title and body

click show preview

ask for posts newer than 1 year

ask for 100 results per page

you will get a ton of returns. i can't seem to isolate the url for the search return page, but i was able to see dozens of returns.

good luck

Thanks Granny,

First, I appreciate the quick tutorial on proper search technique; That's the first time I've ever found what I was searching for.

Second, I learned that it's not uncommon and there seems to be no reliable fix.

Here are two relevant threads:

my pleasure on the search url.

btw, that's why i did not answer you direct or just point to a couple of threads. i knew that people have had problems with this since potty opened, and i wanted you to get more than just a few returns.

hope u can get it to stop.

Actually, I did get it to stop. It's just like Party says, you have to turn Hardware acceleration off (instructions are quoted from Party in one of the linked threads). I tried it several times and confirmed that it was set properly but what finally fixed it was I switched hardware acceleration back on and restarted. Then I turned it back off (all the way down the slider) and was PROMPTED to restart for the changes to take effect. The key for me was that in the several times I adjusted it, I was never prompted to restart so I'm not convinced the change really registered... I don't understand why that would be but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

It works now and I'm finally playing my Shark hands.

having to turn off HW acceleration is an ugly kludge. You may be able to update your video drivers to fix this too. I have no idea if this will work but by disabling hardware acceleration you basically turn off all functionality of your video card and make your CPU do the work.

It's worth a try but may not work.
