Default Guy puts a sophisticated play on me in a dry sidepot

Original raiser is like 6% pre flop raise. The all in pusher is a tilting donk. He makes a pretty damn nice play on me. Anything I could have done differently? Bet like $50 on the flop? Pushing pre flop seems too risky.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

BB ($58.60)
UTG ($151.45)
MP ($231)
CO ($38.75)
Hero ($362)
SB ($174)

Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, MP raises to $7, 1 fold, Hero calls $7, 1 fold, BB calls $56.60 (All-In), MP calls $51.60, Hero calls $51.60.

Flop: ($176.80) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players, 1 all-in)
MP checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($176.80) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players, 1 all-in)
MP calls $172.40 (All-In), Hero folds.

River: ($349.20) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $349.20

Results in white below:
BB has Th Ad (two pair, queens and fives).
MP has Ac Ks (two pair, queens and fives).
Outcome: MP wins $264.30. BB wins $84.90.

If you going to give this guy that much respect, just fold preflop.

His action doesn't make any sense for QQ, KK, AA Qx, 99 though.

Of course easy to say when I know results.

I agree with this post in entirety.

I also think you would be better off if you didn't post the results in your thread. But I think you should either bet the flop, or call the turn push. My answer might be different if I didn't know the results, I hope not but it's definitely possible.

Good luck,
einbert

c'mon guys.. if I hadn't posted the results everyone would obviously call this a no brainer turn fold

i mean really what f'n hand does this?

i merely found his play interesting.. this is a pretty uncommon situation

Not really. Would be a tough call though.

What hands play this way that beat you?

I totally disagree with you that it would be a nobrainer fold. And I also don't think the flop is a nobrainer check.

All in bet made no sense. I'd call.

I didn't call the flop a no brainer check..

About the turn.. it would be an unbelievable and ridiculous parlay to put the original raiser on exactly a hand such as AK, call, beat the all-in guy, and get a blank river to scoop the whole pot

I was so sure that most of the comments would be.. that was a nice/interesting play by the original raiser.. I never thought that EVERYONE would advocate calling a $180 all in with unimproved JJ on a Q9xQ board into a dry sidepot

I guess that results oriented thinking is truly mind numbingly powerful..

The original raiser actually had QQ for quads. I was sort of dumbfounded by the play he had made. When I saw the other guy's hand my mind began to wonder about the merits of making the same play with hands that are probably beating the all-in donk but may be trailing mine. I thought the correct calculation of the sidepots with a split was a nice touch. Sorry if anyone feels misled.

My intention was not to make anyone look silly.. but this thread got so ridiculous so fast..

hand history numbers will not be provided upon request

with the second Q showing up I'm less inclined to believe him for a Q and play it like that, I'm calling here, The only hand I could figure him for thatwould beat you would be either 99 or AA, I think KK would push that preflop and isolate.

I'd expect a good player to push-isolate QQ-AA just about never

I'd expect a push-isolate from AK just about always
