Default AT in BB

Live tournament, 40 entries, top 4 cash. Blinds 500-1000, ante 100, 6 handed (12 players left total). Folded to the button who has the big stack (~18k). He just tripled up a couple hands earlier so I haven't seen how he plays the big stack but he's seemed slightly on the tight side thus far. I've been pretty card dead, only hands I've shown were JJ and 99. He min-raises to 2000, SB folds. I have ATo in the BB and ~8000 chips, I push all-in. Good/bad/thoughts?

Stop N Go or push, either way, your chips will be in the middle.

Yeah, I felt like it was pretty close to an automatic push to me. Only thing was the min-raise confused me a little- either a monster, or trying to make it look like he's not stealing...? Turns out he had AJ and I was bounced.

I had a similar hand in a live tournament a while back, exactly the same situation only I had about half your chips and someone else had gone allin for a small amount in MP. I sat there for a long time thinking about it. I guess the real problem with a hand like this is that its so easy to be dominated by a stronger ace.
Ironically in my tournament the guy also had AJ and i was out.

Crappy way for him to play AJ if you ask me.

And don't fear the minraise. That's what it's designed to make you think. Very few people actually minraise with a monster.

NH, tough luck, suck out next time.

If your stack was deeper I'd suggest a call. Pushing would only get you called by the hands you dont want to call.

But your effective M with 2100 in the middle already (remember its 6 handed so blinds come around even faster) is around 2.

Easy push. Even at a ten handled table I'd probably do the same thing, especially against a big stack and is running high on his latest win.
