Default Anyway I can protect this hand ?

MP3, SB and button all similar - loose and passive, over 30% VP%IP and don't seem to know where the raise button is!

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 max, 9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, MP1 calls, 1 fold, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB completes, Hero (poster) checks.

Not sure whats up with the converter here, I was actually Big Blind, not a poster

Flop: (5 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, MP1 folds, MP3 calls, Button calls, SB calls.

Nice flop! but a flush draw possible, nice of SB bet out

Turn: (6.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, Button calls, SB calls.

What here? a bet doesn't protect, as I'm giving 7.5:1 to a flush draw, cant be sure of a bet from MP3 or Button if I check

River: (10.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, Button calls, SB folds.

Final Pot: 13.50 BB

Is this one of those hands mentioned in SSH where I'd have better protected by checking the flop and waiting to raise a safe card on the turn?

Mat

I'm guessing from your tone that you lost but you played fine. 2pr is a good hand and you should just bet it for value the whole way here. Imagine you had an AK - you would be that the whole way - yet your 2pr is better then TPTK.

Nah, I like every street of it. You can't really get flush draws to fold any way you try (there's a good Ed Miller post on this) - might as well make em pay. You had no resistance on the big streets, so I would do the same as you and bet it. NH.

Calling the flop bet, and the raising SB on a safe turn card

Gives up a little value on the flop, but faces MP3 and button with 2BB cold and one card to come on the turn

There's a lot of good threads recently about waiting for the turn. It might be worth checking them out. Basically, its fairly overused at this level.

*grunch*
What exactly are you trying to protect your hand from here.
Flush draws and OESD have the odds to call regardless of how you play it unless you can be sure SB will lead that turn (which with passives you can't). I think this was a fine play.

I've been re-reading SSH in preparation for moving up to 2/4, the call flop/raise turn line is something mentioned that I've never really seen a spot to use at the tables. One to put to the back of my mind as a "just in case" I guess!
