Default Help me pick a Vegas Hotel

Hey all,
I'm heading to vegas for the first time. I found good flight/hotel deals for the Luxor, Aladdin, NY NY, Tropicana, excalibur and the flamingo. I'm looking for a place with decent rooms, close to the strip, but most of all, a nice pool and spa to keep the girlfriend busy while I play some poker. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Mirage was awesome when I was there about a month ago. Very good location across the street from Harrah's, next to TI and Ceasars. High quality pool (and spa treatments from what I hear) too.

You'll need to play in the big games to cover that spa cost!! Spas are definitely -EV .

Of the places you mentioned, Aladdin probably has the nicest standard rooms and best (center strip) location.

I would avoid the Trop at all costs, and personally would avoid Excalibur as well. Haven't stayed at the Flamingo but my guess is to avoid that as well but check with others for opinions on that. For some reason I like gambling at NYNY, but no poker there that I know of.

Mirage and Mandalay Bay have awesome pools.

Check out 'cheapo vegas' on google - they have a pretty down to earth rundown of hotels/casinos/pools/restaurants in Vegas.

although I do like the Trop's proximity to the MGM grand poker room - cross the bridge and you're right there.

I don't know why people have a problem with the Imperial Palace -

decent cheap rooms - nice pool - and Right between two of the biggest poker rooms in Vegas (Mirage and Bellagio) -

One of my favorite places to stay on the strip is the Barbary Coast. For some reason I just like the feel of the casino - kind of 'old school' vegas, and for the money the rooms are great. Also, it's a small place so it has a different feel from the big strip hotels.

Problem is my wife doesn't like it so I don't stay there much anymore lol
