Re: Played correctly?
yes (played correctly)
no to any questions pertaining to "check raising" and this hand. one caveat: if you had a strong read on MP1 as somebody that hates to let a street go by unbet, you could smoothcall the flop and c/r the turn, but that's dangerous, unnecessary fancy play here. you did great. |

I'd have to shoot you if you went for the c/r on the turn. Ni han

Re: Played correctly?
Do not check raise this flop. You were the preflop aggressor, everyone expects you to bet. If you want to check raise the turn, then don't 3bet the flop. A decent line here would be to check call the flop, check raise the turn and lead the river.
Against 6 opponents thought, I like your line better, make everyone pay in small bets while they're still around on the flop. |

Re: Played correctly?
i was just wondering wether the river bet is correct? as the 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the river makes 4 to the straight on board and 3 to the flush? So is it right to bet in this situation for value because of the size of the pot? personally i think the hand was played perfect but i was just wondering if someone could explain that its ok to bet the river here with a bit of a scare card.

Re: Played correctly?
The flush is a little bit of a concern here but there aren't too many hands that would raise this flop, and call a 3-bet (and a turn bet) with just a 5 (maybe 56 but then the 6 didn't help him anyway, and we'd likely have been bet into on the turn as he's not going to win much on the river). With just the flush possibility, ssh recommends betting here (somewhere in the river play section I can't remember where but I just read it again last night) as you are ahead here often enough to pay off the flush when it does hit.

Re: Played correctly?
I think you played this perfectly. Getting this flop checked through could be bad as you are giving a free card to any gutshot or flush draw. You have a monster but between 5 other players collectively there are still a number of outs against you.
And as an example of a bad thing that could happen, a player with a 5 here getting a free look at the turn might be correct to call getting great odds on a gunshot which would hit on the river and drag your pot. Even worse is someone with T9 who would gladly fold this flop but pick up the straight on the turn and then likely win. Finally once you've shown aggression preflop it gets more difficult to check-raise unless you know your opponents are aggressive (or if it was 3-bet) as they will likely only bet if they think they are ahead of you. |

Re: Played correctly?
I think you played it correctly. There was no assurance you would get a bet to raise here.
