Default Two top/over pair hands.

Any thoughts on this hand? Should I have called down?

UTG calls, 4 folds, Hero calls, 1 folds, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5.00 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.50 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 5.50 BB.

In this hand my question is simple. Its VERY likley that I am ahead at this point, so do I bet the flop for value or should I check and wait for the turn and force people to fold with the bigger betsize? (As the pot is very big)

Absent a read on the villain on hand 1 I'd probably fold the turn too. If he's aggressive I might call down.

Hand 2, no, just bet the flop, you have the best hand and betting out gets more money in the pot while you're ahead. You want to check this through then see a King or an Ace on the turn with three opponents?

Ed Miller actually made a post in this link saying you pretty much should never be checking behind on the flop. You are giving up too much value and you have no idea if someone is going to even bet on the turn or where the bet will come from.

Good catch, he has the exact same question that I have, he even recalls the same axamples from the book. At the time I played the hand I thought "get the money in while your ahead!" but later when reviewing the hand I recalled the example on page 163 in SSHE. Thats why I didnt know if my play were correct.

Going to read that whole thread now. Thanks!

Edit: I've read the threads and it's pretty clear that my flop bet were correct.
