5/10 HU - A Simple Turn Dilemma
Villian is in BB and is 49/5/0.7 after 400.
Pre-Flop: I'm on the Button with TT I raise first in, SB folds, Villian calls Flop: A 4 5 rainbow Villian checks, I bet, villian calls. On this board, I see the call from the villian as saying he has the ace. I think I might slow down. Turn: J rainbow villian checks, I check. This will at least induce a bluff if he is behind, and save me a bet if not. I will have to call the river bet thou. River: 2 villian bets, I call. I my reservations about my moves and logic behind them. I think I could have played this better. What do you think of the whole hand and my logic behind the moves? Trent. |

I'd fold this river unless I have a note on him he has bully tendencies on scare cards.

Re: 5/10 HU - A Simple Turn Dilemma
I’m not a huge fan of bet folding the turn. If he has the ace, you get c/rd and have to give it up (or he smooth calls and lets you hang yourself) If he doesn’t have the ace he will more than likely fold when the jack hits and you bet again. If you check behind and call any river you lose the same when you are behind and win an extra bet inducing the bluff, assuming he would have folded the turn. Sure, you give a free card, which in this case might have allowed him to suck out to a wheel, but that’s pretty much the only draw out there, and is probably compensated by the times you bet the turn and get blown off the best hand by 67s or pure air.

Re: 5/10 HU - A Simple Turn Dilemma
I agree. I should have bet the turn. He may well have a straight draw. But I would fold to a c/r. Betting the turn should also give me a free showdown. I think this is the best line against a loose passive. If I check the turn he may not bluff often enough on the river, to make my original play more profitable.

betfold the turn and check behind the river [/ QUOTE ] Players like this will call with any part of the board or draw. Do not give him free cards. |

Re: 5/10 HU - A Simple Turn Dilemma
the flop call doesnt necessarily mean an ace. you're also ahead of 66-99 which i dont think he 3 bets pf. bet/fold turn, check behind river. get to the showdown for 1 bb. nasty river, but if you bet the turn and then the 2 falls, you can fold to a passive waking up. if he is drawing you get the extra bb when he misses and lose the same when he hits.
