This is an odd rant... I'm ranting about others bad play where they give away their money when its so clear they're losing.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed at the fish just because you can't believe they're so dense? Though I appreciate their generosity, sometimes atrociously bad play hurts my brain.

Last night, at one of my tables was the typical "I only raise preflop when I have pocket aces" donk. This wasn't speculation... everytime the guy raised he had aces (and it didn't matter what position he was in or what the other 2 cards were... if he had pocket aces, he potraised it preflop).

So, 4-5 limpers, Aces-donk does his raise. everyone calls. Flop is A-8-J... Aces donk bets pot... gets 2 callers... skip to end of the hand, Aces donk has a trip aces and scoops stacking 2 people with such strong hands as 2 pair and a pair of kings?!?!

A couple of hands later... the same "Aces-donk" does his preflop raise, a number of callers- Flop is something like 3-9-Q... some fish bets 1/4 of the pot. Aces donk calls as does another. Everyone else folds. An ace hits on the turn. Suddenly Aces donk Bets pot, fish reraises all in, aces donk calls... Fish had a set of 3s with no redraws... and gives his whole stack to aces donk.

I wasn't even in the hand and I'm getting annoyed. Aces donk is playing like he has his cards turned face up on the table... and the fish gouge their eyes out and refuse to look at his hand.

Again... I know these are the people who make the game profitable. Regardless, am I the only that gets irritated when you see someone stupidly bashing themselves in the head repeated? I try to put myself in their heads and I get nowhere. I can't for the life of me figure out what they're thinking. These ATMs couldn't try harder to lose the hand. (even against other bad players who have NO deception in their play.)

Maybe the term lemmings is more appropriate then fish?

You'd probably be a happier person if you worried more about yourself and less about others. Just my uninformed opinion.

I am a happy person. It just hurts my head to see self injuring stupidity (be it on the poker table or off.)

I also think it has something to do with not being able to understand. I have a compulsion to figure out puzzles and such. I try to put myself into the heads of other players, and just can't figure out what's going on up there.

But I'm having fun. I get irritated and laugh at them at the same time. I can't be alone feeling this way, can I?

I only get annoyed when they don't rebuy, or when they suck out on me and then give it right to a total rock before I see decent hand. This reminds me of a suggestion from Barry Greenstein's book to play looser with opponents that pay off too much. If I see a guy that will pay off the nuts without much hand (always calls down with just 2 pair and no low possibilities no matter how scary the board for instance), I want to see lots of flops with that guy whether or not my starting hand is great. This is something I am just starting to play around with though.

It only bothers me when the donkeys draw only to the low(and crappy lows at that). Flop will be 3 9 K rainbow and bet all I want with a set and nut low or whatever I may have but the fish calls with his 2578 straight to the river
