Default Ever have a day where you just plain play badly?

I'm not running badly. I just feel like I'm making a lot of wrong decisions. My thought process is wrong. I'm making a lot of stupid plays. I'm not on tilt... Everything else about me is fine. Anyone have a similar experience? How'd you fix it? This is the second day in a row I feel I've been like this.

I've had too many of those recently. Probably fatigue related. I get impatient. Impatient and poker don't mix. I should know better.

I'm with you guys, the past couple of sessions for me it's as if I'm letting my little brother sit and play for me. I can't wait to finish clearing this Party bonus this afternoon so I can take a little time off.

OH Yeah! I've been there. When that happens, save your sanity and your money by at least taking a break, if not the whole day off. You will not be costing yourself money by not playing, you will be saving yourself money.

I usually go have a snack and watch a comedy on TV/DVD, get some laughs in, and forget about poker. Sometimes I will also read a book for an hour, or catch up on Sports Ill. If I feel better, I'll hit the poker again. If not, then racketball - and then maybe after dinner I try poker again.

Good for you for noticing this problem - better luck at the tables to you.

If I find I make 2-3 clear mistakes in the first hour I play I just quit and do something else.

I'm glad I am not the only one. I have played bad before where I break even but I have actually been losing lately. I know that part of it is that I am getting unlucky but I also know that I have made some bad poker decisions this week. Maybe I need to take a break. I read the 2plus2 forums at work and when I get home all I want to do is get on the computer and play.

Impatience is the devil of poker. Maybe you've been running hot and you want to keep up your astounding win rate so you start adding speculative hands out of position and then try to bluff to win with them. Or maybe you've hit an unlucky streak and you just want to get even too quickly. Must keep an even keel, stay patient, and play good poker.

Well, like I said, it's nothing like that for me. I'm running well. I'm patient. I'm just doing a lot of stupid things. I'm calling down with A-high when it's obvious I'm beat. I raise planning to fold to a 3-bet - but then call it anyway. I'm cold calling with decent hands instead of folding/3-betting.
