I know nothing about high stakes poker since I've never played above 10/20 and never in Vegas at all.

This was quite insightful. And please save the "and so was yours" post. At least I'm aware.

Thanks but i'm looking for 80/160+. I'd rather go see a show or something, anything but playing live 30/60.

I kid you not, but I have played in a quite few live 300/600 mixed games that were quite a bit softer than the average 30/60 online holdem game.

I am a one trick pony though, i only know limit holdem well enough to play those limits with confidence. But yeah thats what i was looking for - a comparison, and honestly it doesn't suprise me all that much. Online 30/60 aint no cakewalk.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but due to long weekend waits in the past I have observed lots of hours of action at the $30-60 game at Bellagio(I think, maybe it was $40-80). The games typically contained 2-3 really fishy players...the type that like to see every hand although they were a bit more aggressive than the normal fish and would check raise. The tables also seemed to have 1 or 2 amatuerish LAG's....not guys who were very good...guys who just seemed to get off on betting to force the weak tights out and playing with the fish. The rest of the players seemed either weak tight or very tight aggressive, though with how fishy the fish were, that may have been absolutely optimal strategy.

Anyway, nothing that really impressed me about the players, and I would have sat down in the game each time if I was comfortable playing for that amount of money.

I think Bellagio runs 3-4 of these games on weekend evenings.

the 30 at bellagio and 80 at bellagio are as unlike as 2 poker games can get

Bellagio spreads the highest regularly running all limit game in vegas, 80/160. Word of mouth, they are able to spread a few tables of it, like 2-3 I think on weekends, and during tournaments or basically any time people are interested, they will spread a higher game (bk playing 150/300 is an example).

Mirage spreads a 40/80, and I don't think anyone else has had success getting a big limit game going.

As for the composition of players or how it compares to online... For that I have no idea.

Thanks for the responses so far. I have a few more specific questions though;

1. What is the highest spread purely limit game that runs regularly?
2. How do these games compare to the average online 30/60 and 100/200 games respectively?
3. What kind of game selection is available i.e. how many 100/200ish games usually run on weekdays/weekends?

Cheers.

this normally depends on whether or not a tourney is in town. For pure holdem 80/160 i think is the higest game that always runs. I have seen straight LHE as high as 1k/2k when the WSOP is in town but usually there is not a higher pure HE game going.

If you play well and there isn't a big tournament going good luck getting a game bigger than 80/160 LHE going. You're only real shot is at the bellagio btw.

When you get there, tell the floor you want to start an interest list for 150/300 lhe and play 80/160. After a bit ask if anyone wants to play bigger and say you started a list for the game.

The only way most people will play it is if you let them pick another game like 2-7 tripple draw or stud or whatever they're favorite game is. Kind of a give and take thing and I, like you, don't play other games proficiently enough to play that high stakes.

Not sure when you're going to be there but I'll be there starting the 1st of dec lookin for a game.
