Default Rake Question (Nanos-ish)

I was playing .05/.10 for several thousand hands (poor guy i only had 30 bucks to deposit, following the latest Bankroll building post, I think by Wookie?)

Anyway I got up to a 98% confidence interval winning player at that limit, turned by 30 bucks into around 90ish. Since then I've bumped up to .10/.20, but I notice on the pokerstars rake structure they take .05 out of every buck for this limit, which is the same rake they have at .25/.50

So far over 600 hands I've paid 2.25, so thats almost 2 BB/100 hands...is it stupid to play at this level (only considering the rake) or is that typical? Anyone playing .25/.50 or .50/1 want to fire up PT and see what their BB/100 rake is?

I wouldn't say it's stupid...it's essentially the same rake--5%. I haven't gotten too high in limits at most sites (up to 3/6) but I've always found the rake to be consistent percentage wise.

Anyone playing at much higher limits (10/20 or more) see any decrease in rake percentage?

Edit: OK, it's not 'essentially' the same rake...it IS the same rake.

The rake is much higher at .5/1 and 1/2. Paxosmotic did a good post about different rake structures at different limits a couple of months ago. Maybe if you tried a search you could find that particular post.

Yeah rake is a beast that really cuts into yr winrate. We all hate it but that's life.

You sure it was Pax? I did 3 years, all forums, Paxosmotic, 22 results came up but they are all replies, and mostly in the rakeback/affiliates forum...

Stars limits rake to $3/hand no matter what -- it'd start dropping below 5% once you hit 10/20 fixed or 3/6 blinds NL/PL, based on a hasty analysis of average pots in the lobby.

Greg, are you saying rake is higher $wise (obviously) or as a percentage of the pot? AB was basically 5% for .50/1, 1/2, and 2/4.

I wouldn't think they'd increase the rake percentage as the limits go up.

% of the pot at .5/1, 1/2 .. its really high at 1/2 6max(but the players are horrid so it evens out some)

it gets better at 2/4
