So what exactly is your problem with Hitchens? That he's self important and arrogant? I guess you don't like Rush Limbaugh or Pat Buchanan either? When you say "Nothing else about this man suggests that he should be embraced by conservatives." what exactly to you mean?

He means, in case you have not figured it out yet, that practically all the political positions that Christopher Hitchens has taken in his life would make a conservative mad - except for Hitchens' support for the war in Iraq.

One thing out of a hundred and the neo-cons are treating him like a latter day saint.

...OK, and that book about Bill Clinton as well.

In many ways Hitchens is the ultimate neoconservative. He is extremely socially liberal but has seemed to embrace the use of military power to intervene abroad. I do appreciate Hitchen's wit and his willingness to confront buffoonery on both sides of the political spectrum. In fact, and maybe I wasnt clear, I really have no beef with Hitchens. My beef is with my fellow conservatives that have developed a sudden infatuation with the man.
