When I play drunk online, my starting hand requirements usually drop off a little and I start bluffing calling stations. Occasionally I'll misread opponent's hands because I don't realize what they're drawing to. In live play, oddly enough, I can usually focus enough to do okay. I won a NL tourney in a bar when I was drunk off my ass. Not exactly the WSOP, but I did win a poker tabletop out of the deal. Most people I see drunk at the tables turn into calling stations, with an occasional maniac thrown in.

The one guy that sticks out in my mind was at Bellagio a few years back. He started out playing okay, but after a while the waitress stopped asking and just brought him a Bud longneck every time she came by. I lost count, but he was definitely gone. He could never remember his hole cards, and he turned into the worst calling station I've ever seen. Never bet, never raise. Always call. Even if he had the nuts (which he was apparently unaware of, because he'd just turn over his cards and let the dealer figure it out.) He bled off five or six racks of white at a 4-8 table.

The hell of it is, eventually the cards just ran over him like a tidal wave. He made back all his money and probably an extra $100 by the time he stumbled out. Crazy stuff.

You eat the red chips because you think they are made of candy.

Yeah, that stuff used to give me a hangover of sorts that messed up my concentration. I don't use anymore, and was never a big dopehead to begin with. I just think it makes you stupid if you become a chronic user.

I never play well drunk. It definitely loosens my game, which might not be a bad thing, but I have problems focusing on my game and end up finding my mind wandering or chatting with other players.

I have found that I play a significantly improved game if I just have a slight beer buzz. It makes me into an aggressive and instinctive player with a better feel for the game than I would normally have. Funny, the same thing was true for me when I used to shoot 8 ball every day in college. Best games I ever played where when I was just a little buzzed.

From playing a lot of home games, I see that alcohol makes tight passive sloppy loose aggressive. I haven't seen too many good players play drunk live, but maybe that's why they stay profitable. THC, I think, tends not to affect a skilled player's style as much but will really tighten up a weaker player. Also, if you are not partaking in the activities, try to switch the game to Omaha or Seven Card, b/c high people will often forget what what cards have been exposed and subsequently folded, or will goof up and play three hole cards in omaha more often (happens to everyone here there).

And he then showed his hand? This couldn't have happened.

For some reason, I play ok B&M poker when I am drunk but online I spew chips like a mofo.

i more or less agree!!!.... no problem having a bunch of drinks at a casino. i think it actually calms me down in terms of not getting frustrated at bad cards. after a few drinks, i can just chat at the table much more easily and i think (not sure about this) that i would actually give off fewer tells while drinking (not a crazy number or anything).

but online at home drinking wine, i think you can go pretty crazy...

so i think drinking B&M is fine, as long as you don't overdo it..

I shot pool okay drunk. The top cash player at the House of Billiards in Santa Monica always has a beer too.

One time I shot pool stoned. I'm not joking. I think I made zero shots. It was uncanny. I thought the pool table was broken. At this time I was a good shooter. I couldn't play position very well, but I could definitely make a lot of long shots, bank shots, cut shots, etc. I have no idea how people function when they are stoned. Maybe the stuff I get is just too powerful?

I dont drink a whole lot, but when I do start drinking at the casino I cant seem to get drunk NEARLY as fast as if im in a bar or just hanging out. I dont know why. I have to have a drink or two just to keep me from bouncing my leg up and down sitting there waiting.

Pot is a different monster. Evryone reacts different with this. I can say from many long long years that if you're a habitual stoner then at most you'll keep your buzz an hour...most likely much less. If anything it relaxes me enough so I dont pull in all the other stresses into my game...work, relationships....ect. If you dont smoke often...then no it is a really bad idea to blaze-play.

If they're high they usually take too fu--in long to make a decision....drunks are just obnoxious and play horribly. But I would rather be at a table with 8 drunk players than one with just 1 guy blazed on some sh--...slow action irritates the hell out of me...WAKE UP!
