When to Go for Overcalls
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG raises, Button calls, SB calls, Hero calls. Flop: (8 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets, Button calls, SB calls, Hero raises, UTG 3-bets, Button calls, SB calls, Hero calls. Turn: (10 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, Button checks. River: (10 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) SB bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, Button folds, SB folds. I spent 2-3 songs at a concert later that day thinking about this hand, and how stupid the river raise is. Either I make no money (luckily what happened) or I lose 2 more bets. SB played this exactly like he would have played a monster. Raising knocks out worse hands from calling, etc, etc. Win the least lose the most. After getting 3 bet on the flop 4 ways, I was kind of pissed off to see the turn checked through, more because it was unexpected than because I "missed a bet" or "gave a free card". After that, I raised the river out of irritation, not thinking at all. I suck in uncommon situations. |
