Default simple satellite hand

Bodog $220 super to the $2000+200 Super Bowl Tourney

1st = entry, 2nd = $800 in tourney credits, 3rd and up = $0

15 runners, 7 left, Blinds 50/100, Average= 2142

I have 2100 and A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Fold, limp (2000 something), fold, fold, I limp, button folds, shortstacked SB completes, BB checks (~1500).

Flop: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (Pot=400)

Reads:

1. SB is too short to matter.
2. BB seems pretty normal.
3. Limper makes some goofy bets at times. Very few hands had been limped the last 3 orbits so the EP limp was suspicious, but I could not assume he was going for the limp-reraise.

What should I have done and why?

Later,
Che

I think limping from the CO here is just fine.

Default oops, forgot to add the flop action

It's checked to me on the flop.

What should I have done (on the flop), and why?

This is the kind of flop you like seeing, you have a ton of outs, I would bet here, as this is the time you prob. should gamble.

You are 50% to win the pot vs A10-AJ, and AK-AQ is a slight favorite (3% prob). Plus it was a unraised pot, so I think they don't have those.

If your opponenet has a9 or lower, you are the favorite.

Bet out 300. call all raises on the flop.

the only way you can let this go is if you make a small flop bet and then someone who has you covered pushes in front of you on the turn. even then, you may be forced to call.

With that position I'm checking, free card is good for everybody, either your kicker is no good and your still drawing or your way a head.

even if his kicker is no good, he still has 12 outs twice plus runner runner st8 draw.
this is far from a "way ahead, way behind" hand.

Exactly his hand is to strong to bet here. So why not check and see what happens on the turn. I like to play small pots unless I have the nuts which I don't. So I still like giving the free card, cause there are more cards that help your hand then there so why not let them catch up a bit.

There's more to poker than only betting the nuts.

You have to bet out here, monster draw, checking barely gets you paid off when you hit. Specially because the structure only pays top 2, seat going to 1st place, so you have to play more aggressively.

the hand devalues a bit on the turn if a non spade or non 6 comes out.
