Default Re: How in the world can you possibly win at Micro Limits?

Scntaxpro, the micros can be beat. But because of the phenomena you describe---many players staying in to the end with one catching a needed miracle card---it can feel like a roller coaster. New players sometimes start out on a great winning run, and start thinking they are god's gift to poker....at least until the inevitable pendulum swing back to reality. Others will start off in a downswing, and ask the questions you are asking now.

If you haven't purchased any poker books, start shopping. If you are total beginner get two: Ed Miller's "Getting Started in Hold'Em" and Lee Jone's "Winning Low Limit Hold'Em". Be sure and get the most recent, third edition of the latter. As sson as you master the basics in these books, add Ed Miller's "Small Stakes Hold'Em".

Read this forum. Read hand histories. Play within your bankroll.......even if it means dropping down to .25/.50 or .05/.10. You want at least 300BB. For a newb starting out 500BB may be better....or at least the ability to go back in the pocket to replenish a bit if you hit a bad run.

Good luck, and hang in there.

Edit for PS: Check your home page, I sent you a PM.
