It doesn't take muscle density or bone density into account. I look like I should weigh 15 less than I do.

BMI: 25.1, slightly overweight.

32.9

Hard to believe if I lost 50 lbs. I'd still be just inside the overweight range.

Things like this are stupid because they dont take into account whether the weight is from muscle or fat. There are a lot of people who are 5'8", 180 who would be considered overweight according to this thing but actually have very little body fat

Yeah, same here. Big waste of time IMO.

6 foot 185 = 25.1 = overweight??

I mean, I am a little flabby and not in great shape, but I can't be overweight. I am the skinniest guy of all my friends.

This is dumb.

26 - slightly overweight.

I recently read an article in Scientific American about BMI. There's some scientists that question its usefulness, since it's basically an arbitrary measure designed by the US government. And, as other posters mentioned, it doesn't account for muscle mass/bone density. I mean, 50% of the NBA is considered obese.

I don't remember all the details, I think its from the May issue if anybody's interested in more.
