How different metals are welded together (and why some can’t be), tensile and shear strengths of the welds and why and how various techniques are used and practical applications. Example, nickel rods used to weld case iron. Pick some specialty applications that will hold interest for you and make it more enjoyable to write about. Underwater welding of oil platforms, can welding be done in space or on the moon etc. Or perhaps what kind of metal sturctures could be built on the Moon or Mars.
