Re: I can\'t believe Empire Poker is giving people their money!
[ QUOTE ]
How do you know that party notified anyone at empire? It seems like if empire had known they would have warned the affilates so they could give their players some kind of preemptive warning+incentive to stay. [/ QUOTE ] Like multipoker's "reload madness"? I'm a little suspicious of that one. |

Re: I can\'t believe Empire Poker is giving people their money!
[ QUOTE ]
I think my questions were pretty clear. Why would you think that Empirepoker is worthless now? How would somebody be jailed for the recent actions and what country would this take place in? Sorry for basically repeating the same questions I just asked. Basically, I guess I'm saying that you're over-reacting (which seems to be the 'new black' on 2+2 these days). In other words: I don't think that empire is worthless. I don't think anyone should or would be jailed...and even if it were possible I don't know where this would take place or who it would involve. [/ QUOTE ] It's certainly worthless in the context of what it was 2 months ago, they won't be making $90m in 2006 that is for sure. I think someone should go to jail for this, but no one will, corporate fraud and misinformation is strictly 'open house' rules. I don't own any stock either incase you wonder. Mack |

Re: I can\'t believe Empire Poker is giving people their money!
[ QUOTE ]
8,000 players is a ghost-town?? (I remember when I started playing on pokerstars in Feb, 2003 and thinking how cool it was that they had 1500 players on at the same time during peak hours). Do you even know whether they have THAT many fewer players than they had before? Obviously they have less than before...and some of the 2+2 multi-tablers are cashing-out some decent sized rolls they had on there. But even with all this I'm pretty sure we all know that Empire never had THAT many players to begin with. When there were 70k players on during peak-hours we already knew that only a small fraction of those players were Empire's. Have you even considered the possibility that they won't have to give part of the rake back to Party now? They even had a couple 100/200 games going yesterday on the empire/eurp network for crying out loud. I think your tone is indicative of the panic that I was referring to. Whether you believe it or not...it's not the end of the world. And my hunch is that it probably isn't the end of Empire either. [/ QUOTE ] You know that's the total from ALL the other skins right? I can speak for myself and for many other pros who had several empire/other skin accounts that Empire is losing my business to party (worth between 5-10k/month MGR). I really don't see how they will survive for more then a month unless they completly change or do something drastic that I can't even think of. |

Re: I can\'t believe Empire Poker is giving people their money!
Is TruePoker and GamesGrid going to completely collapse as well?
What about any other site that regularly has fewer than 1,000 players? |

Re: I can\'t believe Empire Poker is giving people their money!
I suspect the most likely outcomes is that one of the skins buys the others out of their contract leaving a 1 skin system that isnt that small compared to some of the other functioning rooms out there.
I also suspect that the percentage of rake paid to party will not change as its still their network all they have done is created a new one. |

[/ QUOTE ] Do you know how much it costs to run their business a month? Well then why would you make this stupid prediction? There are poker sites that get 100 people a day and still make enough to run. They probably make enough just on the interest from the money in peoples accounts to cover their expenses. |

[/ QUOTE ] If the skins get down to 1000 players (looking possible) and bother to stay open, I guess they wouldn't have collapsed, but they sure would suck. I doubt many empire stock holders bought in hopes of them becoming the next gamesgrid. |

Is TruePoker and GamesGrid going to completely collapse as well? What about any other site that regularly has fewer than 1,000 players? [/ QUOTE ] They likely will collapse, but I don't know that much about them. My point was that poeple in general used Empire for RB purposes to play against party players, I don't think that generalization about the majority of their business (in terms of total rake not # of players) is unfair. Therefore if they are to survive they are going to have to somehow switch tactics and attract "small site" type of people and try to build a new loyal base. I think this will be extremly difficult. Also the other issue is the fact that when businesses go from being big to small in a hurry, especially when they are a publicly traded company it isn't exactly and easy adjustment, they usually fall pretty hard and I wouldn't be that surprised to see the people running it try to jump ship. |
