Re: Utilyzing the overbet (somewhat LC)
It works when it is easy for your opponent to put you on a bluff. So when a draw misses and you have played your hand like a draw. Or here where it is easy for him to put xorbie on an ace trying to push him off a split. It also works when the opponent simply does not lay down any hand TPTK or better. So you can just bet pot on flop, bet pot on turn, overbet river. Or overbet flop, overbet turn, overbet river. Or whatever.

Re: Utilyzing the overbet (somewhat LC)
Ok, here's what I dont understand about this situation. I could easily bet a smaller amount and be guaranteed a call in this situation 95/100 times. Why risk not being called at all here? I understand that there is only a certain % chance that he needs to call for this to be profitable, but why not simply put in a smaller amount and hope villian pushes on you?
And I don't think this is LC at all. I've seen a few overbet hands posted and dont understand why/when to do it. |

Re: Utilyzing the overbet (somewhat LC)
You said it yourself, he only needs to call a small percentage of the time to make it more profitable to push. And there is NO WAY he will EVER lay down an ace on the river here fearing the flush (neither would I most likely - definitely not against xorbie). So it is SO easily obviously profitable. I would push 10K into this pot if I had it here. IMO, this is probably the clearest hand of an overbet being the way to go I have ever seen in my life.

Dealt specifically with your question. |

I've been doing this more & more lately when I've been in LAG mode. I'm astounded at how often it actually works.

I think a very good spot to overbet is when your opponent is not likely to call a bet unless he has a very specific holding, but will call any amount. For instance, you have 4 of a kind and there is an A on board, so you think villain will only pay off any sized bet with the A boat. So you would push this every time. You don't want to bet 1/2 pot and see he likely would have stacked off. |

Wow, somebody actually paid you off in that rock garden? Congratulations. I will try that this weekend.

Re: Utilyzing the overbet (somewhat LC)
Didn't know these plays work at this level. Ppl calling these overbets obviously think you are bluffing. Or they don't think at all... given that board.
