Default I think i just played in the worst structured tournament ever... (LC)

Friend of mine invited to play in a tournament at his local elks lodge. Wasn't doing anything so i went.

200 Players. $10 buy in

Players start with $2,000 (20xBB)in chips. Blinds raise every half hour and follow this structure.
100-100
100-200
200-400 100 ante
400-800 200 ante
800-1600 300 ante (got knocked out around here but assummed
it followed this pattern to the end)
Each player also has 1 $10 rebuy for an additional 2,000 in chips. Within 90 minutes we where at crapshoot status.

Other strange things. Each player started with 6 chips. (1-$100, 1-$500,1-$200, 3-$100) so every hand everyone had to make change. Player were calling $200 blinds with $1,000 chips and then often had to wait to the end of the hand to get change. And for some reason the white Chip was a $1000 which was weird(never seen a white chip have that much value)

i asked my friend why the tournament was set up like this and he told me that the room is only reserved from 7-10 so they do this to speed it up. Anyone ever seen anything worse than this..?

They have a $150 free-roll for military only where I live.

1500 in chips

blinds start at 50-100 and double every ten minutes. I just wait a few levels and then I play pre-flop poker.

My advice, play a $10 tourney online, faster, more players, more money!

I play in a weekly tournament at my local riverboat with a pretty bad structure as well. $20 buy-in with unlimited $20 buy-ins for the first 45 minutes. Each buy-in gets $500 in chips. A $20 add-on is available after 45minutes which gets you an additional $1000.

Blinds start at 10/25 and increase every 15 minutes.
25/50
50/100
break
200/400
500/1000
1000/2000
2000/4000
Only one time have I seen them get up to 4000/8000.

This tournament is limited to 44 players and usually fills up. Pays top 5.

Gotta be one of the worst structures, but the play is so bad I gotta keep going!

I've seen worse, some friends of mine hosted a poker night and we played 3 $5 tourneys. We started with 500 in chips, Blinds started at 5-10, then 25-50!!!!, then doubled every time the button went around.

So after 45 minutes the big blind is almost as big as your whole starting stack?
