Default Anyone use the Home Poker Tourney.com Structure. need review.

I see alot of posts about this site and think its a great site. The tournament I usually play in has a different structure than this though. I'm looking for comments from anyone that uses this structure in their regular game. Pro's, Con's....

To refresh here's what they recommend:
Its every player starts with 1000.
blinds 10/20 (20-30 minute levels)
15/30
20/40
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
300/600
400/800
500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000

We have a bunch of slow dealers so we actually added a few levels at the lower blinds and used 30 minute levels. It makes the game go longer (which works out better for me - if they only knew ) but everyone seems to like it. That site is a great resource!

More levles needed later on. 150/300 is good, 200/400 etc

My only problem with that structure is that it requires a whole extra color of chips (10s) that are only used for the first 3 levels.

My blind progression starts at 0-25 (only one blind), then 25-25, then 25-50, then looks pretty similar from there.

The disadvantage of my progression is that you really only start with 40x the "blind." But that's a little less meaningful when there's only one blind. The advantage, as far as I'm concerned, is one less type of chip in play and one less color-up.

I've been using it for about 6 tourneys now without any major complaints.

Like Tom said though, adding a 150/300 would be good to stretch it out a little bit. We use 2 decks with 20min blinds.

Just curious. why would you need a $10 chip? Couldn't you just use $5, $25, $100 to start and then add more colors later?

Thank you to everyone that responded so far.

We use the same schedule only adding 150/300 and 200/400 - we also add antes at the 150/300 level. We do allow re-buys for the 1st hour (as homepokertourney.com sugggests) My only concern is that even with 2 tables and 2 decks/table our tourneys last about 5 hours for 12-16 people. I would like for it to be more like 4 hours being that it is an evening game. Any suggestions anybody has for this? We have tried a more aggressive blind schedule before but it seems to be more of a crap shoot in the end.

Okay, make it a $5 chip. Same effect. It's a chip that only gets used for 3 blind levels then it's gone. In my game it's just 25s and 100s (with 500s later on) and I find that to be more efficient for both myself as the director and the players.

You accidentally left out two levels - there is a 150/300 and a 200/400 level included in my blinds structure.

AcesKracked - You might want to try shorter blinds levels.

Good luck, nutn
