Vegas Trip Planning Questions

I am planning a trip to Vegas.

Background Info:

I work 3 days a week, 12 hours shifts.
My weeks alternate between...
Week #1-Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Week #2-Sunday, Wednesday, Friday.
When I get off work on the week 2 schedule I have Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off.

I am planning to fly out Saturday Morning and Return Wednesday Evening. I will not even have to miss a day of work for this trip.

Questions:

Do I need a Rental Car? (Remember I am 6'4" and over 300lbs, Sub Compact does not work for me [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img])

The Cheapest Deal I have found for Flight and Hotel is $398.90 Tax and Fees included. It is at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino. This is Round Trip and 4 nights for just me.
Is it the Cheapest Deal for a reason? If so, where do you recommend?

The last time I was in Vegas was for business years ago.
What are the best ______? (Bars, Casinos, Excursions, etc.)

The website is offering something called a 3Day Las Vegas Power Pass for $80.
Should I get something like this?

Any other Advice would be great!

There will be some gambling but I really want this to be a "just have fun" trip. I have budgeted about 2K in disposable income ($500 a day, this does not include gambling funds) for what ever I want to do.

I like fine dining restaurants, but since I will be by myself, pasta or a burger is just fine. Unless I am meeting up with a 2+2er for dinner or something then I would say $150 a person is not out of the price range for a meal for me, in a fine dining establishment.

I love roller coasters, Magic and Museums but I could give a [censored] about the Hoover Dam.

You'll probably want a car if you stay at Palace Station. It's a $20 cab ride to the strip from there, which almost pays for a day's worth of car in Vegas. They have shuttles, but you'll end up taking a cab back at the end of the night, anyway.

you are going to be kind of far from everything at palace station... you will need a car, but it might be worth it just to take that money and stay at a hotel on the strip if you plan to be there, or in downtown if you plan to be there most of the time. Most of the downtown casinos are pretty close together if you stay down there and within walking distance. On the strip, walking + the tram will get you around as well.

If you really like roller coasters and have access to a car there is a roller coaster in Primn Nevada about 45min from vegas that has about a 2 and a half minute steel roller coaster. It has no loops but goes pretty fast and is one of the best coaster's I have ever been on. The strip has some coasters as well but they are over price and are not nearly as good as the one in Primn. The roller coaster is located at Wild Bills casino and you can see it from the highway with its own exit. Can't miss it only thing really there.

my advice would be to check out prices at your local travel agencies before you book your trip. When I went I found all of the ones I checked (3 or 4) had lower prices than if I had booked online.

I dont know how nice Palaze station is, but I would personally look for a place on the strip.

$400 is good, but I think you can find something right on the strip or downtown for around 500-550. I got 5 nights for $480 at the Alladin (I booked about 3 weeks ago though). Then, you probably won't need a car. Walking and the monorail should be enough, and the bus takes you right to downtown for a couple of bucks. Lots of museums and art galleries in some of the casinos. I'll be going too next week, and off the top of my head, my girlfriend has plans for us to see 1) Shark reef at Mandalay 2) Imax at Luxor, 3) botanical gardens at Bellagio [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] 4) Stratosphere ride thingy [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]. vegas.com has some good info.

I got a midsize Pontiac Grand Prix on priceline.com for $15 a day my last trip - didn't use it much since I stayed at the Imperial Palace. You'll want a car if you are off strip or if you hate lots of walking. Things in Vegas are very far apart - bring comfortable shoes. Travelaxe may get you a better deal on a strip hotel.

Check out Penn and Teller - I haven't seen them myself but have heard good things. House of Blues has good shows as well. There are coasters at the Strat, Circus, and NY NY.
