Default Where to Eat at Foxwoods?

Never eaten there before, as I never stay for more than two sessions. What are the best places to eat from a price:quality ratio? I'll be staying there Monday afternoon to Wednesday night.

I ate at a Chinese place there that I really liked. I don't remember the name or where the hell it was; scrub was with me so maybe he does. I don't remember the price but it was very normal, probably $20-$25 a piece.

There is an excellent, inexpensive walk-up counter deli next to Nathans, which is right across from the elevators to the Great Cedar (not far from the poker room). In addition, there are at least a couple of inexpensive Asian restaurants with decent food. Of course, there are some very top shelf restaurants--of which I am too cheap to sample.

Word of Warning: AVOID the all-you-can breakfast buffet at the restaurant outside of the poker room. I've eaten there a few times, and each time I've regretted it. For $9, you can get all of the cold, runny scrambled eggs you can eat with loads of cold, hard French toast and unchewable pancakes. I can't see the buffet being enjoyed by anyone unless they wait for a fresh cooked omelet to eat with the really nasty bacon and sausage. YUCK!

The Festival Buffet is a safe bet. I'm especially fond of the seafood pasta. The lines tend to get long around lunch, so we always aim at an early meal.

The Cedar Steak house is a very reasonably prized treat. As always the prime rib is the bargain, and I love the beefstake tomato/blue cheese salad. In the weekend you're going to need reservations, call ahead as early as possible. Very nice place indeed!

Stay away from the Fox Harbour fish restaurant in the basement. Overprized and boring.

Enjoy!

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

For something basic, the Veranda downstairs under the Grand Pequot Casino has the most variety and is open 24 hours. For something nicer, the Cedars steak house is very nice. Reservations are recommended unless you want to eat in the bar where you can just usually walk in. Anyways go to the Foxwoods website and they have all the restaurants and menus listed.

The cocktail waitresses will deliver from the poker snack bar tableside (sandwich, burger type fare); if you walk out through the asian games pit there is a noodle bar that's a very good quick meal. I'd avoid the festival buffet; the buffet at Mohegan Sun is better (though still a buffet, so don't expect too much). The Italian restaurant at FW is also very good; expect about $50 pp w/ drinks.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice -- Looks like I'll have a decent amount of variety, which when in the same place for 3 days is a treat.

Also, if anyone is around, I'll be playing 1/2NL, 4/8 HE, and maybe some stud. I'm a big guy, almost always in blue jeans and some variation of a Timberland shirt.

Thanks again for the recommendations,

-Josh

When at the table, I recommend the chicken fingers. They are delicious AND can easily be eaten with a fork to avoid getting grease on the cards (and, most importantly, to avoid getting the disgusting garbage on the cards into your food).

Doesn't like to think about how disgusting the chips and cards are at Foxwoods; must ... use ... more ... hand sanitizer

If you looking for something good and inexpensive try the Bistro under the poker room. The food is good they have take out service for the poker players and it is fairly cheap. $15 -$20 for the average entree. They have pizza for about $10 and salads for about $8. I always found the food good and the bread there is very good as well. Hopefully this helps you out a little.

The bacon cheeseburger combo from the Garden Food Court behind the buffet is a relatively tasty and inexpensive.
