Re: Some pocket KK losers
Hand 1:
It seems like you're overplaying your hands by a lot. 6xBB at 6 Max seems like overkill. I'd think 3xBB or 4xBB would be appropriate. The Q96 flop isn't that bad, after he calls your overbet I think I slow down. A lot depends on Villain of course. Again, why the overbets? It doesn't look like you're ahead here anymore, but it's only $11. He has the straight, bah, that's unfortunate. What a <*}}>< Hand 2: Preflop raise is fine. Flop is good. I don't think you need to pot it here, I think something as little as $15 is fine. If somebody calls your pot bet on the flop here, I'd say it's most likely a set, and then maybe an overpair. All in on the turn with an overbet, hmm. I don't like playing these big pots with one pair here, especially when Villain is showing strength by calling your flop bet. I might slow down somewhere in there. Set of Fours, again, unfortunate. Villain played it fine, though. Hand 3: 5xBB seems a little much, but since you're getting all of these callers with these big bets, maybe not? I don't know, I don't play 6 Max. Flop bet I'd make it a little more here. Turn is another huge bet, I don't know what to make of it. I don't see who's calling $55 here, and then the rest on the river, without a better hand than Kings. Maybe a huge donk has KQ or AJ, but I doubt it. Okay, I stand corrected. 98o. That's just terrible luck, sorry. Hand 4: Again, terrible luck. |

Re: Some pocket KK losers
In 6max I usually don't swing so hard with these preflop but I've found this is really table dependant. Some games the average open is 3$ with multiple callers and other times you will never get any action unless they have a really close hand to yours, you probably know this though so I'm sure you acted accordingly, hell he called with T8 in the first hand, if they'll pay it, tax em.
Other than preflop raises: Hand 1: I'd slow down on the turn a lot. When the boards look like this and you have an overpair it usually means trouble. I'd check behind and call a decent bet on the river. Hand 2: I'm a pot better I fire this a lot too, although its a safe flop for you so the less is fine. On the turn again I think you have to slow down a lot, unless he's got TT or something it's almost certainly a set. Hand 3: I'd pot this flop, there's a good chance it somewhat lines up with this hand and you don't want to let him draw to a straight or two pair for cheap. The turn bet is also fine as long as you really feel he's not made and drawing, or getting stubborn with QJ or KJ or some crap. Hand 4: I don't like three betting KK in NL personally. It diagrams your hand too well and lets him get away cheap with everything but Aces which he busts you with. Usually I'd say see a non ace flop and get it in the middle, checkraise him all in when OOP. Then again, you found a guy who overplays trash, and there are certain guys whom I have no problem getting this in preflop against. Some days are better than others. JMO, only played about 1k hands at 50pp. |

Re: Some pocket KK losers
Good comments so far.
Keep your flop bets 3/4 to pot sized bets, consider slowing down on the turn more after your flop bet is called (esp against solid players). Hand 4: At these stakes I'll threebet KK every time. |

Re: Some pocket KK losers
Just a note about hand 2.
IMO, villain played it perfectly. He had correct implied odds pre-flop. Well within the 5/10%. The flop was as perfect for him as it could possibly be. This is the classic case why small PP are worth a call pre-flop. |

Re: Some pocket KK losers
Bet 2/3rds of pot on a safe flop, bet 3/4 to full pot on a drawy flop, that includes boards with two medium connecting cards eg J10. On the hands I'd bet 6, 14, 15 respectively.
Definitely check behind on turn on hand 2 villian has made a mistake checking. Villian either has an overpair or a set, and call a reasonable sized bet on the river; do not call an all in. |

Re: Some pocket KK losers
Without looking at other people's replies:
Hand 1) was 3x bb the standard pf raise on the table, for you or your opponents? I might bet smaller on the turn, as a queen is unlikely to call you here if you makea large bet. If you bet halfpot and they go over the top I'd still call but at least you can induce action from a queen. hand 2) Thats a really ragged flop to be betting pot on the flop, even facing multiway action (I'd make it 15 at most, though would raise more preflop) - what hands connect here within the villians' range of hands? will sb cold call with suited connectors that low to your preflop raise? Play it slower and you'll smell out that set. Last two hands are standard, maybe just push vs villian in the last hand as you'll be forced to call his reraise anyway so just give force it in. |

Re: Some pocket KK losers
As a general comment, you are giving people rediculously good implied odds with your PF raises unless you are raising about 20% of your hands.

Re: Some pocket KK losers
My preflop raise % was around 5% but I have been working on getting it up the last week or 2 and now it is around 6.5-7%

Re: Some pocket KK losers
Do you also play TPTK this hard? Because really it seems like a set is going to stack you 100% of the time.
