satellites on party?
Im sitting in a limit hold em tourney at party as I write this. This particular tourney is a qualifier for the Saturday 200K quarenteed NO LIMIT tourney. Being a bit new to tournament play, Im scratching my head here. Why am I playing a LIMIT tourney to qualify for a NO LIMIT tourney?
I called Party Poker and the answer was, "some tourneys are limit, and others are no limit. This one is limit." Like ....duh! Does this kind of thing accur in the real world, i.e. B&Ms? Or is this one of party pokers brainfarts? just wondering. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

brainfart
... b&m will occasionally happen when a tourney fills up so a satelitte becomes one for another tourney, or when limit is just played way more often.

Re: satellites on party?
The daily freerolls on stars, in which 23424 people participate and first 9 places qualify for a seat in the weekly second round and can win 10 bucks there, are sometimes stud, omaha, NLHE or limit HE, while the weeakly second round can be any one of them. So you can qualify by winning in a stud tournament, then go to 2nd round and play limit HE. Kind of strange.

Re: satellites on party?
I've seen an B&M limit tourney where the final table was no-limit.

Re: satellites on party?
I have seen similar things at a B&M casino near me. They had a $100 buy-in limit tourney and winner got seat at the WSOP $10,000 NL event. Winner of limit tourney told me he had never played NL before (as you may have guessed he finished out of the $ at the WSOP).
I agree Party's system is ludicrous. Just one of many ludicrous things going on at party. I was playing my first big multi tbl tourney at party and couldn't figure out what place I was in during the tourney so I summoned a floorperson. She showed up after 10 minutes to tell me that the only way to know what place you are in is by where you finish. So I said to her, "So if I finish 85th, then I'll know I was 85th". She said, "Yes." Doh. With Pstars tournament dollars system you can win a satellite and then use the tourney dollars for the main event or you can unregister and use them for any other tourney. |
