Re: WPT announcers overheard by players?
[ QUOTE ]
I dont think the announcers can see the hole cards on the cam LIVE, can they? So their opinions shouldn't matter so much cuz they aren't playing anyway. [/ QUOTE ] No, they can't, but they could still indirectly influence action. One player to a hand, yo! -kyo |

Re: WPT announcers overheard by players?
Actually, the Aruba event was the only one that the announcers were about 10 feet from the table. Do you notice that during the casino events when they do a wide shot of the arena, you don't see the announcers booth anywhere in sight?

Re: WPT announcers overheard by players?
On Phil Gordon's WSOP podcast, he podcast one day from LA where he was recording some commentary for Celebrity Poker. He mentioned that in Nevada there is a law against seeing the hole cards live (even in a charity event, it seems), so most of the commentary is added weeks or months later.

Re: WPT announcers overheard by players?
I watched Aruba's final table (both this year and last), and can tell you that Mike and Vince do not have any knowledge of hole cards until the tourney is over.
There is a lot of post-tournament editing and what not. |

Re: WPT announcers overheard by players?
They're going for "plausibly live" and based on some replies in this thread, they're doing a pretty good job of it.
But as other's have pointed out, since they don't know the hole cards at the time, much of it is recorded later. --Zetack |
