Default hand vs. mike l.

So i'm playing in my usual 40/80 la game, and the table chatter is going, and I mention my recent lasik surgery. A goofy guy across the table who, based on the 5 minutes I'd seen him play was a total lag, perked up and said:

-so did you then spend the night at LMD's place?"

whoa.

-are you gabe?
I ask.

-ha! no, I wish

-mike l?

-yeah, you got it.

How cool is this, I finally get to meet the legend in person, and I even have position on him. Well, sort of, if you count position being 5 seats to his right.

Anyway, even though my session sucked, it was a pleasure to watch the master in action. He single handedly put half of the table on raging tilt, played maybe 40% of his hands, and had my side of the table (uber nits) scheming on how to take him out. "get this guy..." mutters the nit next to me under his breath when I 3 bet him"

One ridiculous hand he played was so...utterly ridiculous, I'm not even going to post it. A hint, it involves 73o on a KJ456 board.

Anywho...just leads me to a hand example

fairly agro woman raises, i 3 bet TT on the co, and mike l calls cold in the bb, agro woman calls.

Flop is A73 rainbow or something, and mike l. leads out. The lady folds.

I'm lost here, is folding really bad?

vs mike?

Sure. Call. And then call again. Finally, call again on the river.

If he checks the turn it's kind of a weird spot though.

Don't we all?

Call the flop, raise the turn.

hi andy,

im dont see what raising the turn accomplishes. hero way ahead or way behind. either mike has an ace and will call down or will keep bluffing.

It's not impossible mike will fold a weak ace, or that he has pocket jacks or even queens. Or that he'll call the turn raise with a worse hand. And it tells mike, hey, you think I'm a nit, but take this, sucker.

I would be amazed if mike calls 2 more bets cold from the BB with Ax suited or not. He certainly plays looser at times but I know him well enough to really doubt he calls here with Ace little.

Yeah that's the problem. I called the flop and raised the turn, and mike l. 3 bet.
