Default When to raise?

empire 1/2 6 handed

Hero is dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] On the button

4 calls, hero raises, SB folds, Everyone else calls.

5 handed to the flop : 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 bets, CO raises, Hero CC's, BB folds, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls.

3 to the turn: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

UTG checks, CO bets, Hero Raises, UTG+1 CC's, CO calls

River: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

UTG checks, CO checks, Hero....

Im 3betting this flop everytime for value.

That 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is probably the worst card in the deck for you but id still bet here. I think you will have CO beat here most of the time but UTG may be drawing.

Why the flop as opposed to the turn for a bigger bet?

If you were closing the action id prefer a CC, but you have the chance to fold BB, UTG and possibly UTG+1 by 3betting. I prefer to wait for the turn in a situation where you cant protect your hand. The pot is massive and i havent done the math so we may still be giving correct odds to gutshots but i think this hand would play it a bit easier for me if we can cut it down to 2 or 3 handed with position.

Id like more opinions too.

Agreed. I think the flop is the right time to raise/3-bet.
