Re: How many hands do you need on a person?

[ QUOTE ] their VPIP is 4.5 ie 8/176 is that enough to completly avoid this person [/ QUOTE ] I hope you're kidding. Why on earth would you want to avoid this player? [/ QUOTE ] yeah, sit on his right....weeeee free button 95.5% of time. not to mention being able to put him on a pretty damn narrow range for every hand (e.i., AA-JJ, AK, AQ). cheers, the Real Macoy |

Re: How many hands do you need on a person?
for some reason it really bothers me that I think there are SEVERAL 2+2'ers who would purposefully avoid a VP-5 type player.
This is also a total mystery to me as I just assumed that anyone who thinks about the game AT ALL would realize that avoiding such a player would be a mistake. |

Re: How many hands do you need on a person?
maybe the OP meant avoid him when he bets/raises
as opposed to avoiding his table. |

Re: How many hands do you need on a person?
Keep in mind that if you pay too much attention to stats and not enough to actual gameplay, this can be a big leak. So while numbers are important, keeping a watchful eye never hurts either!

Re: How many hands do you need on a person?
For the record I did mean avoid when he raises rather than avoid his table. Another related question, is it owrth datamining te $100NL or does it only become worth it at higher levels?

[/ QUOTE ] Extra information is always a good thing. Many players that you get stats on you will never see again, but for the few people you will see again the new info on them can be a big help. |

Re: How many hands do you need on a person?
It depends. Sometimes waiting for PT to come to a conclusion is a waste of time. If some moron wants to call 3 bets cold with 78 suited I do not need another hand to understand he's a moron even if he flops x78 catches an 8 on the turn and 7 on the river. I make a note using the poker sites software and continue.
If I see a note I read what particular type of moron I'm facing and continue. Note I only take notes on the morons. If someone is at the table and I know the screen name and they don't have a note I assume they are at least margianlly competent. |
