Villain: raises to $2.50
Hero: raises to $5
oeskola: folds
Gunn002: folds
Villain: raises to $17
Hero: ???

Since I've not seen him show down a hand its hard to say what his range is here. Q9, Q8 seem very unlikely, as does JT. I'd say 99 or QQ.

Thoughts?

He's in the big blind in an unraised pot. He can easily have Q9, Q8 or JT. And don't you think a 5% PFR would raise QQ?

If you're going to 3 bet that flop, make a real raise. I would rather flat call the raise so that you don't run into this situation though.

Anyway, go ahead and push. If you got set-over-set (which I'm guessing you did by a pair of 9's) then oh well. If he has JT then you have lots of outs. Who knows, maybe he's semi-bluffing with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Number of possible ways to make a hand-
QQ: 3 ways
99: 3 ways
set -(6)

Q9: 9 ways
Q8: 3 ways
98: 3 ways
two pair - (15)

JT: 16 ways
straight - (16)

If he has a random hand and he bets the same way with all these hands then he is likely to not have the higher set. The straight is most likely. Two pair is next most likely. The higher set is least likely.

raise it to 10, if he reraises i'm folding against the playeryou describe. This is about the only place I will fold bottom set. Middle set I'm calling.

Edit: folding, because he flopped the nuts. The only reason I call with 99 is because lower set is somewhat likely. I don't think he would 3bet a real raise with Q9.
